The Song of the Sage

hey, thought I'd take a short break from book writing. I needed to get my head out of Jane Austen for Holly's tale and more into Charles Dickons for Klaus' tale. But, as I was trying to do that, I suddenly got some inspiration and wrote the following. it may or may not have something to do with Klaus and Larsons' adventure.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Song of the Sage
When time began and earth was young,
A man and wife lived in the east.
And there they made a home for all,
For plant, and man, and every beast.
And from the clouds there shone the sun,
And rain fell down and rivers ran,
The earth was deep and dark and rich,
The winds blew on the place of man.
And here tis said in days of old
That man first took the leaf so green
And eating of the herbs and plants
Learnt the secrets of things unseen
The leaf taken was rare indeed
And came from one peculiar tree,
Said to bare within its folds,
All knowledge of apothecary.
The man now wise, was Sage the First
And high masters he made his sons.
One each to rule each art he learnt,
And neath them were still other ones
The first to rule all good devices
Cooking, perfume, flavorings and tea
And all things used to prevent ills
Such as ticks and lice and small flea.
Unto the second was given rule,
Of plague and sickness and illness too.
And medicine and cures for all the ills,
Poisons and antidotes both he could do.
The third was charged with most sacred of all,
The magic locked in the plants and trees,
Of potions, both sleep, love, an’ hate
And charms and dreams he worked with ease
And so from them were descended
All the masters and even the Sage,
And their knowledge passed through generations,
Reaching down and growing with great age.
And so it is they came to Bho,
The bay by which Stoken is placed,
And offered service to the Judges,
Who welcomed them with much great haste,
And they dwelt in the land by the blue sea,
Safely in the Forbidden Glade,
Rarely was their faces seen,
Though service was offered once one had paid.
