The black Envelope

the black Envelope

the Black envelope arrived this afternoon
the ghostly white page within
a young flame, snuffed out too soon
shade where light had been

the Black envelope arrived today
the raven hued words etched deep
their meaning clear, yet far away
how grimly the reaper reaps

the Black envelope arrived this week
calloused now, are the shovelers hands
the world once bright, seems so bleak
hear the echo of time’s sands

the Black envelope arrived this month
the world a mausoleum of memory
the heartfelt sorrow and pain now blunt
no more to be or not to be.

the Black envelope arrived this year
no longer a misanthrope
and that day is no longer clear
when first arrived your black Envelope
